For attribution purposes, many blogger template comes with a fixed credit on the footer. This is a kind of saying big thank you to the developer of that template. Removing this footer unwisely will lead to redirect of your website to the author's website. Nonetheless, many beginners are not comfortable with it as it makes their blog unprofessional.
Removing footer credit is simple. For template provided by blogger,go to your blogger dashboard and navigate to template, edit HTML. Search for "attribution" widget. In the widget change locked ='true' to locked='false'. Save the template.
On your dashboard, go to layout and click edit on attribution widget then remove it.
In the case of a custom build template, they are bundled with encrypted script. Removing any of those script will lead to deprecation of many template function. For instance, auto resize thumbnail and related posts might not work. Also it might redirect your website.
In this case, it's cheaply a matter of using a CSS to hide it from  the blog. To do this, On your template editor, search for footer. In the footer, search for any div elements containing the credit. Add this CSS code to it.
